What's the best way to get our company name out there?

Getting our company name out in the construction business, so other companies want to do business with us. Example - our company is HUB Certified, and have all the papers needed to do business, and in the chamber of Commerce.

Now you need to promote your business to your target market, where they are looking for you! There are many ways to promote a business and using as many ways as your budget allows, which are right for your business is important. Have you done any marketing? Do you have a website? if, so, how are you promoting it? Knowing more about your business and what you are doing will help in giving you meaningful advice.

Attend as many networking groups and business card exchanges as you can. Take the time to get to know other business owners and learn how you can refer to them. Networking takes time and patience.

Another suggestion would be to stop in and and offer a personal introduction to businesses that fit into your target market. Business owners usually know other business owners and quite often referrals come from the most unexpected sources.

Follow Todd's example. You need to network with other industry groups that need and can utilize your certifications. Being capable |Licensed |Insured |Certified is great, if the right people don't know you, it's for naught.

Subcontracting is a lost art many overlook.

First determine who is your ideal TARGET connection. Also look at who hires these people. Then research where these people professionally network. Then go evaluate a those networking circles. Having a competent Marketing Plan for your business would help you define these things.

The first thing I tell people is what they generally don't want to hear but it works: picking up the phone and dialing. It isn't the funnest, but it works.

Secondly find networking groups in your area, not just the common ones but private groups in your town. You can find them by doing a Google search for them.

Next I would recommend putting your website in local business networking websites such as,, linkedin,, etc

Nothing beats free website traffic. Good places to start are free directory websites;

Bing Local, Yahoo! Local,,,,,, (obviously),,, MapQuest,, facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, foursquare, switchboard and kudzu.
